Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite until an appointed term. Indeed when Allah's appointed term comes, it cannot be deferred; if you only knew!” 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 “So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
