Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
