The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
