The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 purify your garments; 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
