۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
