I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
