The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
