The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
