The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
