The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
