He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
