He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
