The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
