The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
