The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
