Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
