The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
