The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
