The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 you strive in various ways. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
