The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
