The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which opens up with verdure, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
