The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then came down close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
