The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
