The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
