And recall what time thy Lord called unto Musa, saying: go thou unto the wrong-doing people. 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 “And they have an accusation against me, so I fear that they may kill me.” 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). 21 But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel." 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty." 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
