Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
