۞ And when the son of Mary is quoted as an example, behold! the folk laugh out, 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 Jesus was a servant of Ours to whom We had granted favors and whom We made as an example for the Israelites. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. This is a straight path; 61 and do not let satan prevent you, for he is your clear enemy. 62 And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me. 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive? 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
