Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
a large throng from the ancients, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
