The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
