The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
