And deem not Allah negligent of that which the wrong-doers work: He only deferreth them to a Day whereon the sight shall remain staring. 42 They will be hastening forward, their heads unpraised, their look returning not unto them and their hearts void. 43 (Muhammad), warn the people of the day when torment will approach them and the unjust will say, "Lord, give us respite for a little time so that we may answer your call and follow the Messengers." (The answer to their prayer will be), "Did you not swear before that you would never perish? 44 And ye dwell in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves and it had become manifest unto you in what wise We had dealt with them, and We had propounded for you similitudes. 45 Indeed, they planned their plot, and their plot was with Allah, though their plot was a great (one, still) it would never be able to remove the mountains (real mountains or the Islamic law) from their places (as it is of no importance) [Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 2, Page 597]. [It is said by some interpreters regarding this Verse that the Quraish pagans plotted against Prophet Muhammad SAW to kill him but they failed and were unable to carry out their plot which they plotted]. 46 Do not think that Allah will break the promise He gave to His Messengers. Mighty is Allah, and Vengeful. 47 On the Day when the earth shall be changed into another earth, as shall be the heavens, they will all appear before God, the One, the Most Supreme. 48 And thou wilt see the guilty on that Day bound together in fetters. 49 with garments of pitch and faces covered by fire. 50 That Allah may requite each person according to what he has earned. Truly, Allah is Swift at reckoning. 51 Here is a Message for mankind: Let them take warning therefrom, and let them know that He is (no other than) One Allah: let men of understanding take heed. 52
