When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
