The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? 10
