The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
