We gave Moses the Book, and appointed his brother Aaron as his supporter. 35 Then We told them: "Go to the people who have rejected Our signs." Then We annihilated them completely. 36 And the people of Noah, when they cried lies to the Messengers, We drowned them, and made them to be a sign to mankind; and We have prepared for the evildoers a painful chastisement. 37 And Ad and Samood and the dwellers of the Rass and many generations between them. 38 And We illustrated examples to each one of them; and ruining them, annihilated them all. 39 Indeed they must have come upon the town on which an evil rain had poured down. Did they not see it? Yet they have no faith in the Resurrection. 40 And when they see you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) they take you but as a mockery, “Is this the one whom Allah sent as a (Noble) Messenger?” 41 Wellnigh he had led us astray from our gods, but that we kept steadfast to them.' Assuredly they shall know, when they see the chastisement, who is further astray from the way. 42 Have you seen him who has taken his own desire to be his god? Can you be a guardian over him? 43 Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle - nay, but they are farther astray? 44
