Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This has been happening all along. 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
