The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
