And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
