Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
