The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
