[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 Eventually, they summoned their companion, and he undertook the (outrageous) task and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
