The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
