The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
