The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
