The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
