▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ But nay! I swear by the falling of stars; 75 and that is a mighty oath, if you but knew 76 that this is an honorable Quran 77 In a Book Hidden. 78 which none shall touch except the purified; 79 A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. 80 Would you, now, look down with disdain on a tiding like this, 81 Would you reject the sustenance that you receive rather than give thanks? 82 Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,- 83 And ye are then looking on. 84 But We (i.e. Our angels who take the soul) are nearer to him than you, but you see not, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 27, Page 209] 85 Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,- 86 do you not restore his soul, if you are truthful? 87 But if he [the dying person] is one of those brought near to God, 88 Then happiness and bounty and a garden of bliss. 89 And if he is one of the People on the Right, 90 (For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand. 91 And if he be of the beliers, the erring, 92 a welcome of burning despair [awaits him in the life to come,] 93 And a hurling into the blazing fire. 94 Surely this is the truth of certainty. 95 So exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 96

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
