Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a high garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
