The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
