The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 and purify your robes, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
