The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
